Гостинското предавање на тема Artificial Intelligence in Cryptography: Challenges and Opportunities ќе се одржи на 24.02.2023 со почеток од 15:00 часот во Амфитеатарот на Финки од страна на Stjepan Picek.

Bio: Stjepan Picek is an associate professor at Radboud University, The Netherlands. His research interests are security/cryptography, machine learning, and evolutionary computation. Prior to the associate professor position, Stjepan was an assistant professor at TU Delft, and a postdoctoral researcher at MIT, USA and KU Leuven, Belgium. Stjepan finished his PhD in 2015 with a topic on cryptology and evolutionary computation techniques. Stjepan also has several years of experience working in industry and government. Up to now, Stjepan has given more than 30 invited talks and published more than 150 refereed papers. He is a program committee member and reviewer for a number of conferences and journals, and a member of several professional societies. His work has been featured in the mainstream media and on popular technology blogs.

Bojan Ilijoski was born in 1987 in Skopje. He studied in the elementary school “Mirce Acev” in Skopje and in the gymnasium “Nikola Karev”, in the mathematics department, also in Skopje. During his elementary and secondary education he participated in regional and state competitions in mathematics and informatics. In 2006 he enrolled in the Faculty of Natural Science and Mathematics in the institute of informatics, in Skopje. He graduated in 2010 and acquired the professional title Bachelor of Engineering – software engineering. During his studies, he participated in many competitions in programming and construction and managing software projects. In September, 2010 he enrolled in postgraduate studies in the Institute of informatics, Faculty of Natural Science and Informatics, the department of computer science. Since 2009, he has worked as demonstrator in the Institute of Informatics. His current teaching work includes courses such as Programming Fundamentals, Object Oriented and Visual Programming, Data Structures and Algorithms, Internet Technologies, Human-Computer Interaction. The areas of his scientific-research interest are Intelligent Systems, Data Mining, Data Bases, Algorithms, Grid computing, High-performance computing.

Purpose of the role

We are looking for enthusiastic tech-savvy individuals to join our Customer Support team in our offices in Skopje. As a Customer Support Specialist for Proton Mail, you’ll be in charge of resolving our customers' technical support questions related to our product.

What you will do

Interact directly with Proton Mail customers to answer questions regarding our services
Help resolve technical support inquiries from customers and maintain the high levels of customer support and satisfaction we are known for
Extensive troubleshooting in order to detect the cause of the issue
Collaborate closely with our developers to improve Proton products based on customer feedback
Helping to test the web and mobile applications on a regular basis to ensure that only a high-quality product is released to our customers

Job requirements

Excellent communication in English (especially in written form)
Understanding the concept of end-to-end encryption
You're a problem solver with a positive attitude
You enjoy working in a highly dynamic environment
You're tech-savvy
You care about digital privacy and you want to make a difference

Bonus points for:

Experience in Customer Support
Experience with QA testing
A degree in Information Technology is a big plus

This is a three-month paid internship with the possibility of extending the duration to six months. The internship is an excellent opportunity available to 3rd and 4th-year students to gain experience in back-end development while working alongside experienced professionals.

Overview of the role:

As a Backend Engineering Intern, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of robust backend systems using Java, Spring, Quarkus, and MySQL. Under the guidance of experienced engineers, you will work on real-world projects that support our mission to deliver scalable and efficient solutions.

This internship will also provide hands-on exposure to Agile methodologies, enabling you to collaborate with cross-functional teams, participate in sprints, and contribute to the delivery of high-quality software solutions. The role is designed to help you develop critical technical skills, understand industry best practices, and gain valuable experience in backend development within a dynamic and supportive environment.

What you’ll do:

Assist in developing, testing, and deploying backend services using Java, Spring, and Quarkus frameworks.
Work on tasks with MySQL to assist in design and manage relational databases, ensuring data integrity and performance.
Collaborate with team members during Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
Debug and resolve issues in backend services, contributing to the overall reliability of the system.
Assist in documenting code, processes, and technical decisions to support knowledge sharing and future development.
Learn and apply best practices in coding standards, version control, and CI/CD pipelines.

What you’ll bring:

Basic knowledge of Java programming.
