(петок) со почеток во 12:00 часот, во амфитеатарот на ФИНКИ ќе се одржи предавање на тема „The use of assistive technology and robotics in treatment of children with autism“ од вон.

Abstract

Autism is a developmental disorder of variable severity that is characterized by difficulty in social interaction and communication and by restricted or repetitive patterns of thought and behavior. In this talk a general info about autism, its characteristics, etiology, prevalence and treatments will be presented. Furthermore, the use of assistive technology and robotics as tools to improve the functional capabilities of persons with autism will be shown.

One of the robots contemporary used in interventions of children with autism is Kaspar. Kaspar is a child-sized humanoid robot designed as a social companion to improve the lives of children with autism and other communication difficulties.

By interacting and behaving in a child-like way, Kaspar helps teachers and parents support children with autism to overcome the challenges they face in socializing and communicating with others.

FCSE (co-director prof. Ana Madevska Bogdanova) is one of the four partners in the NATO project SP4LIFE. On the occasion of the official visit of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to Serbia on November 21, 2023, a presentation of scientific projects supported by NATO as part of the Science for Peace and Security – SPS took place in the Holiday Inn hotel in Belgrade.

Out of 14 NATO SPS projects in which Serbia is involved, 3 projects were presented, among them the project “Smart patch for life support systems – SP4LIFE“. During the visit of the Secretary General of NATO, the project was presented by the advisor from the NATO SPS office, Dr. Eyup Turmus and the goals of the project were introduced by the representatives of the researchers, the young Belgrade doctoral student Stefan Ilić, and the project coordinator Milan Tyšler. In the following discussion, the guest appreciated the innovativeness of the solution and its potential and expressed his pleasure that young people from several countries are participating in the solution.

In the SP4LIFE project, a real-time system with wearable electronic patches is being developed that collects and smartly analyzes information on the vital parameters of multiple injured persons (respiration, heart rate, blood oxygenation, blood pressure) and can help medical personnel to optimally monitor and manage them, for example in the case of mass accidents or terrorist attacks. A patch-like wearable device attached to an injured person’s chest monitors basic vital signs and raises an alarm if the person’s health condition changes critically. At the same time, it is possible to wirelessly transfer measured data from several patches to one monitoring tablet, where, using artificial intelligence methods, other vital parameters of the injured are continuously evaluated, which enables priority treatment and transport to a medical facility of those injured who are in the biggest threat to life.

Join Scalefocus’ MKD Student CTF – Compete, Learn, and Win Big!

Calling all students with a passion for cybersecurity! Scalefocus is organizing the MKD Student CTF Challenge (https://ctf.scalefocus.com) where you will have the chance to show off your skills, represent your faculty, and compete for amazing prizes. But who will be victorious and who will be crowned as the best flag hunter among you?

What is CTF?

Capture The Flag (CTF) is a fun and educational cybersecurity competition where participants solve a series of security-related puzzles to find hidden pieces of information called “flags”. These flags are typically strings of text, such as FLAG{example}, that can be hidden in files, code, or network traffic.
The challenges are designed to test problem-solving, cryptography, web security, and ethical hacking skills.

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced coder, the MKD Student CTF has challenges for every skill level!

Challenge Details:

Start Date: 02.12.24
End Date: 16.12.24

Duration: 2 weeks of non-stop problem-solving

Who Can Participate?

Participation in the Competition is restricted to students who are currently enrolled at Faculty of Electrical Engineering & Information Technologies, Skopje (FEIT), Faculty of Computer Science & Engineering, Skopje (FINKI) or Faculty Of Information And Communication Technologies, Bitola (FICT). This is your chance to showcase your skills, learn new techniques, and have fun with fellow students.
